The state of no motion.

The concept of absolute rest have thrown scientist and philosopher of all time into unrest. From Aristotle to Galileo to Newton to Hawking, all tried

After coming home back from a long journey, we all want a soft bed waiting for us to have some ‘rest’.

During this rest phase we shall not move here and there, shall not use any of our body energy and shall try to restore the energy we lost during the long journey.

Well, that was the expectation part, but can we have something like absolute rest. Aristotle was a believer of absolute rest, as per him an object will stay at rest until application of an external impulse. It sounds like Newton’s first law of motion, but it is not. Newton’s first law is about object’s state of motion, he didn’t specified whether it is rest or motion. Galileo (Newton had taken results of his experiments as the basis in developing Newton’s laws of motion.) and Newton believed the value of rest can’t be measured and it was proved by Newton’s famous laws of motion. Lack of the value for rest simply suggests that you can’t perfectly determine your position with time, that means you can’t bet on the fact that you now sit on a place where you were a few minutes before. But how, let me explain (as I think).

As per you, you are there on that place since a few minutes, but are you still there where you were? Or will you ever be on that same place again?

Well, no. because you are there resting on that place since a few minutes but what about earth, it revolves on its axis at a speed of around 460 meters per second, so you have moved some 460×60×(those few minutes) meters around earth. Well, you always have the freedom to ask what about

24 hours later, in that case I will answer about earth’s revolution around sun, earth revolves around sun at a speed of around 30 km/sec, which means in duration of 24 hours of rest you have moved 30×3600×24=2592000kilometer through space. You again have the freedom to ask what if you wait a year long, this time I will answer you about revolution of our solar system around our native galaxy (milkyway) that is at about 828000 km/hour, again we can
deduce to a form like 828000×24×365=7253280000 kilometers away from your previous position although you are on rest this whole time (hypothetical). The same creepy thing happens for whatever the duration (finite) of time you take.

Although Newton’s laws showed that body can never be on the same place again after a time. But Newton tried to deny the fact about the absence of absence of absolute value of space as it didn’t resonated with his believe in the almighty. He was judged for this fact and in this time Bishop Berkeley expressed his thought about space, time and all the realities as nothing but just illusions, and was greatly criticized by other philosophers of his time.
Well, you can think of a time infinite far from now, when every corner of the universe will be passed by, then there will be no options other than to repeat the spaces earlier visited, but, the problem here is Hubble’s findings about the expanding universe. So, there will come no time when you shall be able to pass by every single point of the universe and begin to repeat the points you have earlier been.

In this way you can never take a rest😁😁😁!!!

Just chill, because what our body need is restoration of energy and not the absolute rest of physics so go get to the bed after you are tired.

After all, absolute state of rest is not possible, Einstein once said

“Nothing happens until something moves.”
